NATURALLY MADE SOAPS is a small, family run business hand making gentle, natural soaps using traditional methods and finest quality ingredients. My recipes are my own creations and are inspired by the contrasting nature of my two favorite places - lush, green Devon and the stunning mountains of Northern Portugal. I use natural ingredients including flowers and spices, many sourced or grown by myself. All my ingredients are safe, pure and good for you.
Natural soap making products abound in both Devon and Portugal, rose, English lavender, sea salt, goats milk, oranges and lemons, olive oil and eucalyptus to mention a few. My aim is to share this bounty through Naturally Made Soaps and, in doing so, give you the chance to experience why these places are so special to me and my family.
How do I know my soap is safe and feels great on the skin? I test every batch I make myself and use the best and toughest Guinea Pigs I know, my own family and friends! I never test on animals either even my ‘DIRTY DOG’ soap is tested on my own skin before I use it to wash my two mud magnets!
Some people ask about using lye in soapmaking, is it dangerous? The cold process ensures that once the chemical reaction between the lye and oils takes place there is NO active lye left in my soaps, just pure, creamy bubbles.
Handmade soaps can last for years, in fact the older my soap gets the harder it gets and therefore the longer it lasts. Time will affect the intensity of any fragrance in the soap though, I recommend that my soaps should be used within 6 months. Like all soap mine will go soggy quickly if left in the bottom of the bath or a puddle of water. To help make my soaps last longer keep the bar in a well draining dish and allow it to dry out naturally.

are patient when you order an item that is out of stock. The traditional cold process soap I make takes 3 - 4 weeks before it is ready to send. While I will endeavor to keep enough of each soap in stock there may be times when a particular line runs out for a short while. In this eventuality I will let you know if you have to wait longer that one week.
