Keep bugs away with an, ahem, pet care product...
It's always with great pleasure that we test new products here at GTC (Girls Travel Club), so when a beautifully wrapped bar of soap called "Dirty Dog" arrived from Ishbel at www.naturallymadesoaps.co.uk we were more than happy to have a sniff.
One
deep lungful and we were transported back to the magical scents of
Asia, with green tea, citronella and tea tree wafting round the office.
"Blimey,
smells like Thailand in here," commented Dan as he wandered in for a
biscuit, "that's lovely!" Praise indeed from a man who is not normally
known for his olfactory discernment.
We sent the soap off with
one of our testers to Kho Samui for a month, and she reported that not
only did she smell lovely, but that she was bitten less by bugs too, so
if you are off to foreign parts and want a natural way to possibly help
deter biting nasties, this lovely soap might be worth a try. It was
only afterwards that when I was checking the weblink that I saw you
could also wash your pet dogs with it.....

Must say they were all well wrapped with a heavenly smelling
box! So nice to know that I can order these despite living far away.
Have decided to start with the citrus soap which I can't comment on nor the
lavender which is also new to me, but will do later.
However, as a starter I would like to mention that the Goats Milk, Honey and
Oatmeal is a particular favourite of mine. There is something sublime
about this soap. It's creamy, smells gorgeous and leaves skin feeling
really soft. Never felt my skin go dry with this one, (or any of them for
that matter), which can happen with ordinary "commercial" soaps.
The oats gently exfoliate.
Enjoyed the poppy seed and ylang, ylang soap, which
I preferred as a hand soap than for showering. I loved the poppy
seeds in it and it lasted ages!
I've handed the Bridge Inn Beer bars to my
sons. It doesn't actually smell of beer and is hard to give justice to
this delightfully smelling soap. Best advise is to try it and see. I
think they both like the colour because it's different from any other they've
had before and more importantly as a mum, it's good to know that they're
washing in something made from natural, quality ingredients.
I leave the White Chocolate and Strawberry Gateau
by the bath. It just looks amazing! Love the combination of
strawberry shapes which spill out the top of the bar with ribbons of white
and dark chocolate colours. I think this soap has inspired me to get
more into the gourmet collection and having looked at the Citrus Sorbet and
Honeycomb, they'll be the next ones on my list!! I think this range would
make delightful gifts because they're SO like the real thing.
Its was really hard to know which soaps to go
for when I first came across this stall in Bovey Tracey's farmers market.
But am so pleased I did because they're the best natural soaps I've tried
and are excellent value for all that goes into them. It's a soap
rollercoaster from now on and I'm really happy to have found a product that
delights, and I can both trust and believe in."

Dear Soapchick, I came to the advent fair at the Steiner School to buy a birthday
present for my husband, and you recommended this soap. I never dreamt
that that one split second decision to say yes to a Bridge Inn Beer Bar would be the
beginning of something so big.... The trouble is that I have now fallen
in love - with a bar of soap. Please will you help by bringing another
one to the late night shopping in Totnes next Tuesday evening. I'm
worried you may not have any as it says so on your lovely yummy
website. Once smitten, nothing else will quite do. Please do your

just wanted to give you that feedback I
promised regarding the Lavender and Citrus Peel soaps. The
Lavender has a delicate perfume which is oh so natural and not too strong
or overpowering. Yet again a creamy consistency when washing, just
great. Loved the Citrus peel also, brilliant when showering and I
really do love that feeling of the peel rubbing against my skin.
Very invigorating. Didn't smell very citrus though, but I don't
care, the peel really works and it's still a lovely soap to use.
Well done for coming up trumps again! Have a few bars left, but will
be ordering more SOON. Oh and one last thing for the record, I
have EVENTUALLY converted my husband - and that's saying
something!!
I received the Azure Waters soap you sent me today, it's gorgeous,
thanks so much! It's in my bathroom at the moment where I can admire it
and sniff it for a few days, can't wait to try it. Thanks again :)
